Youth softball plays a vital role in encouraging physical, social, and emotional growth of children. It is therefore essential for parents, coaches, and officials to encourage their youth softball players to embrace the values of good sportsmanship, discipline, and character development. LEICESTER GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE requires that all participants commit and adhere to the following Code of Conduct. LGS believes in the three “S’s” – Safety, Sportsmanship, and Scholarship and expects student participants to exhibit them both on and off the field. Any violation of the following Code of Conduct could result in disciplinary action by the LGS that may result in warnings or suspension.

Parents & Spectators Code of Conduct Pledge:

1.      I will enjoy my child’s opportunity to experience the benefits of softball.
 

• I will trust in my child’s ability to have fun as well as to perform and achieve excellence on her own.
   
• I will help my child to learn the right lessons from winning and losing and from individual accomplishments and mistakes.
   
• I will respect my child’s teammates and fellow parents as well as the players, parents, and coaches of the opposing teams.
   
• I will give only encouragement and applaud only positive accomplishments whether for my child, her teammates, their opponents, or the umpires.
   

2.      I will respect my child’s coach and support his/her efforts.
 

• I will not instruct from the sidelines unless asked to by the coach.
   
• I will ensure that my child will attend all games and practices and, when not possible, I agree to inform the coach in advance.
   
• I will respect all facilities made available so my child can play games and practice softball.
   
• I will respect any equipment or uniform that may be loaned to my child so that she can participate.
   

3.     I will always respect the umpires and their authority.
 

4.     I will never demonstrate threatening or abusive behavior and/or use foul language.
 

5.     I will follow all policies/procedures of the LEICESTER GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE.

As a Player:   I hereby pledge to be positive about my youth sports experience and accept responsibility for my participation by following our Softball Players' Code of Ethics Pledge. 

1. Have fun! 

2. Follow and play by the rules. 

3. Work hard for yourself and your team. 

4. Be a good sport (win or lose); Be honest, fair, and always show good sportsmanship to all coaches, players, Teammates, officials, parents, and fans by demonstrating good sportsmanship at every game and practice. 

5. Treat all teammates as you like to be treated. 

6. Show courtesy and respect to teammates, opponents, and coaches. 

7. Realize that athletic contests, including practice sessions, are educational experiences and opportunities. 

8. I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct.

9. I will not use foul language or engage in rude behavior.

10. I will treat everyone, including coaches, parents, players, and officials, with respect.
